On the billboards of I95 in South Florida, you see a funny thing come the fall – ads for ski shops. It’s strange because the highest mountain in South Florida is run by the SWA (Solid Waste Authority), a landfill. Other than that, South Florida is extremely flat. Not a place for skiing unless you are a cross-country type. And then there is a second problem. Heat. Miami even named its pro basketball team after the Florida weather. The billboards showing athletic skiers, crisp snowcap mountain tips, and happy faces are because we Floridians need to escape the warm sunshine and travel out west. People come here from all over (snowbirds), but we too need a change of scenery.
For you Coloradans, it might be much of the same thing. The tourists come from all over come wintertime looking for a winter adventure. However, if you need to take a break from the frozen nose hairs and numb ear lobes, South Florida is a great place to have a seasonal rental or winter getaway. Here is a guide of real estate to explore….
If you want a diverse city with culture, the beach, people watching, restaurants, and driving distance to great fishing in the Florida Keys, Miami is for you. There are tons of areas in Miami real estate for sale from Miami Beach to Edgewater Miami condos and the super ritzy Star Island.

Like Miami, Fort Lauderdale real estate is quite diverse. People come for the beaches. Waterfront homes off canals and the Intracoastal as well as condos with a variety of price points. It has its own airport with lots of subsets. It also has a great downtown area with Los Olas as a highlight.
Getting out of the city entirely but still having it nearby means Boca Raton real estate might be the place for you. Boca Raton hugs the Atlantic Ocean coast and is built out with lots of golf courses and gated communities.
Just north of Boca Raton is Delray Beach real estate. The town is a three time All American City winner. Atlantic Avenue and east of the Swinton Avenue is known as the “Strip”. Restaurants with outdoor eating lines on both sides of the street. Festivals are weekly. You can walk to the beach and the nightlife is a blast.
There is nowhere quite like Palm Beach. The Island is known for Worth Avenue and iconic spots like the Breakers, Kravis Center, and Norton Art Museum. There is a strip of estates in this area of paradise known as Billionaire Row. Here you can find all Palm Beach real estate. Across the bridge is downtown West Palm Beach with a variety of neighborhoods like El Cid or high-rise condos in West Palm Beach.
Further north is Jupiter Florida, home to half the PGA Tower including Tiger Woods, Rory McElroy, and Rickie Fowler. Other celebrities such as Michael Jordan and Celine Dion call Jupiter their home. Homes on the ocean, country club golf course communities, equestrian lifestyle, homes with boating slips and other Jupiter real estate for sale is updated constantly.
For more peace and quiet, Stuart has a beautiful downtown area and small-town feel. Homes for sale in Stuart consist of beautiful homes on the water, gated communities, luxury country clubs, and easy condo and townhome developments.
